OMDC: GlitchSoft recieves OMDC funding for Dragon Realm RPG!

April 14, 2012: Toronto (February 2012) – The Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC) has awarded GlitchSoft financial resources to assist in the development of its upcoming Action-RPG game “Dragon Realm.” Slated for release later in 2013, “Dragon Realm” (working title) will be one of 21 projects supported by the highly competitive OMDC Interactive Digital Media (IDM) Fund in 2012.To date the OMDC IDM Fund has contributed $10.2 million in 97 projects representing a range of genres, delivery platforms and budgets since its inception in 2005. Recently reported results from the Fund include:the stimulation of content creation worth close to $33 million in production the creation of over 700 jobs with funded projects expending approximately $25 million in Ontario on labour costs leveraging an additional $3 from public and private funding partners for every dollar invested supporting projects with commercial success with revenues of projects launched to date of $45 million… and growing.

This was a time when the tough-as-nails run ‘n gun games were all the rage – large men with larger guns and names like “Mad Dog” and “Scorpion” ran around and shot aliens and general ne’er-do-wells across time and space. Sadly, despite the occasional Metal Slug game popping up, there just hasn’t been much in the way of wanton running and gunning in two dimensions.
